Coxsone Dodd ist für Reggae etwa so wichtig wie Bach, Mozart und Beethoven zusammen für Klassik. Der Mann hat Rocksteady entscheidend geprägt und schließlich den Reggae-Beat erfunden und auch noch bekannt gemacht. Passenderweise heißt sein Studio, in dem er dies alles tat, dann einfach "das erste Studio", Studio One.
Sir Clement "Coxsone" Dodd hat Reggaestars wie Burning Spear, Lone Ranger, Ken Booth und irgend so einen Robert Nesta Marley aus dem Nichts geholt.
Grund genug also, dem am 4.Mai 2004 versorbenen Reggae-Produzenten ein musikalisches Monster-Memorandum zu widmen. Daher gibts bei Rootsrock vier Erinnerungsstunden an die Geburtsstunde des Reggae. In zwei Sendungen wird das Studio One aus allen Ecken beleuchtet, hinterfragt und vor allem genossen.
